Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy recently announced that the State Bond Commission will soon approve $2.75 million for the Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) to hire a consultant to complete the engineering, design and environmental permitting to develop the site of the new Barnum Train Station on Bridgeport's East Side (click for official news release) .

An initial feasibility study for Barnum Station was completed as part of the work carried out by the New York-Connecticut Sustainable Communities Consortium, a bi-state partnership of cities, counties, and regional organizations that received funding through the federal interagency Partnership for Sustainable Communities program.

"Moving this project forward demonstrates our commitment to helping municipal partners and stakeholders make their communities more accessible, more walkable centers of cultural and economic activity. In the process, we are also building a foundation to make Connecticut a stronger and more regionally competitive state by growing jobs for residents and providing more flexible, convenient transportation options for employers and employees alike." - Governor Malloy

A copy of the Barnum Train Station Feasibility Study and other materials produced by the Consortium can be found on the Resources page of this website.
