ULI Westchester/Fairfield District Council invites you to attend our May 16, 2012 event in Stamford that will explore the implementation of TOD projects as part of the NY- Connecticut Sustainable Communities Initiative.

Transit-Oriented Development is retrofitting our Cities with more walkable and livable communities. Government and Transportation Officials at both the Federal and State level have pledged to ensure that housing and transportation goals are met while simultaneously protecting the environment, promoting equitable development and helping to address the challenges of climate change. In New York's metropolitan area, a $3.5 million U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant through the Partnership for Sustainable Communities has facilitated an unprecedented bi-state collaboration of cities, counties and regional planning organizations.

Join us at this important forum as Marilee Utter, Executive Vice President for District Councils of ULI , provides the audience with the keynote address on T.O.D. initiatives nationwide and Dr. Floyd Lapp, FAICP, of Southwestern Regional Planning Agency (SWRPA) moderates a panel of representatives from the Cities of New Rochelle, Stamford, Norwalk and Bridgeport as they showcase their TOD projects that are underway or are in the planning stages utilizing TOD and the Metro North//New Haven rail line as a common link or thread to promote more compact development. Kim Morque, President of Spinnaker Real Estate Partners will join the panel and walking tour to provide a developer's perspective on these initiatives. The discussion and q & a will be followed by a mobile workshop (walking tour) of downtown Stamford.
